I want to set email alert to send out to client (who submit ticket) and admin (first user) when a new ticket is created or an old ticket is updated?

How can I do that ? Please advise.

Thanks

In the panel webmaster, you need to configure the mail (SMTP settings of the email supervisor). Alternatively, you can use an RSS reader in order to be updated when there are new posts. If you use the cms for multiple websites, then you need to configure e-mail settings under "setup", "Advanced Properties".I suggest you use the latest version which you can find here: http://www.cmsaspnet.com/

So it is not possible to make it default for all user. They have to subscribe RSS feed.

There are two types of alert. The first addressed to the supervisor, is generated when someone opens a topic. The second is aimed at users and is generated when someone reply in a topic in which they participate.
Both are enabled by default, however you have to configure the mail server from the "webmaster panel", otherwise the CMS can not send emails.

I opened one ticket from a user account then I updated that ticket from supervisor account.

Now if I log in under that user account I cannot see the message reply that supervisor submitted but that appears fine on supervisor account. Things are not working properly or some bug in the system.

I can give access of that user and supervisor account access if you want to verify.

See here web panel settings: http://download.textguard.com/Misc/webpanel-image....

Also I have entered email settings under Setup (Advance Properties)

There is a system against spam and vandalism: Messages from new members are not initially visible to everyone. After the quarantine period, the messages of the new users will become public. This parameter can be configured from the "Panel Webmaster" and is "Hours Evaluation Time New User" (default is 12 hours, set 0 to disable this feature).

Failure to send the alert by email: Any error is logged in the directory app_data/log, look here if you find any indication that helps you figure out what went wrong!
You use an external mail server, or IIS SMTP server?
I wrote a guide on how to configure the email server with IIS7 (in Italian): http://it.cmsaspnet.com/?pn=58&ar=64
To do a test, you can use the contact page ("contact.aspx") and send the message to yourself.

Errors due to sending emails, are logged here: app_data/log/SpecificError.txt (This file will help you to identify what's wrong).

thanks. I am getting email. But can the new comment appear in the email?

And how to change email template? I want to put some extra line breaks between body and bottom links.

When a topic there are new answers, all those who participate receive an email notification.
You can change the text of the email using the plugin "edit language", the id of the text to be changed is the 3054: Find the "language editor" from the left side menu on the home page.
For further customizations you can also modify the source, see the routines SendEmailNotification & SendNotification in the file ForumManager.vb (about 3114 & 3205 line of source code - Version 5.27).
